Christopher Herz has developed a diverse and robust teaching profile through private instruction, group teaching, and academic appointments. He has worked with students ranging from elementary school beginners to advanced undergraduate musicians in both public school and collegiate settings.

Masterclasses & Public Instruction

  • Delivered a public violin masterclass at Indiana State University (2024), coaching undergraduate violin majors.

K–12 and Community Teaching

  • Serves as Lead Teacher for the Fairview Violin Project (2024), an outreach initiative led by Dr. Brenda Brenner that provides violin instruction to elementary students in Bloomington.

  • Works as a Beginning Strings Instructor for MCCSC (2021–2023), teaching violin, viola, cello, and bass at multiple elementary schools and conducting student orchestras in district-wide concerts.

  • Maintains a private studio in Bloomington (2021–2023) and Rochester (2020–2021), offering individualized instruction to elementary through high school students, both in person and online via Zoom.

Collegiate Teaching Assistantships

  • Held teaching assistant positions for violin professors Itamar Zorman (2019–2020) and Federico Agostini (2018–2019) at the Eastman School of Music. Responsibilities included:

    • Teaching undergraduate students in private lessons.

    • Leading studio classes.

    • Managing studio scheduling and communications.
